Cinderella

Once upon a time there was a beautiful girl called Cinderella and she had two ugly stepsisters who were very unkind and made her do all the hard work. One day a special invitation arrived at Cinderella's house. It was from the royal palace. The king's son, a truly handsome prince, invited the three girls to a party. When the day of the ball came, Cinderella helped them put on their expensive new dresses and she arranged their jewels just so.

Cinderella wished to go to the ball and her fairy godmother helped her, a pumpkin became a golden coach, six mice became six grey horses, a rat became a coachman and her old dress became a golden dress, sparkling with jewels, while on her feet was the prettiest pair of glass slippers ever seen.

When Cinderella arrived at the ball the Prince asked her to dance with him and they danced all evening. He would not dance with anyone else. At midnight she ran down the palace steps and one of her glass slippers fell off. In the morning the prince went from house to house with the glass slipper and every young lady tried to squeeze her foot into it. At last the prince came to Cinderella's house. Cinderella put  her foot into the glass slipper and it fit perfectly. The ugly sisters were so surprised that, for once, they couldn't think of anything to say. But the Prince knew what to say. He asked Cinderella to marry him.

The story of Cinderella, based on Charles Perrault's fairy tale has been the source of inspiration for animated movies and films of the same name. It is also an American romantic fantasy film directed by Kenneth Branagh for Walt Disney Pictures that borrows many elements from Walt Disney's 1950 animated movie.  The film stars Lily James as Ella ("Cinderella"), Cate Blanchett as Lady Tremaine (the Wicked Stepmother), Richard Madden as Prince Charming and Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy Godmother. Cinderella was released on March 13, 2015. Upon its release, the film was a critical and commercial success.

A fairy tale is a fictional story that may feature folkloric characters (such as fairies, goblins, elves, trolls, witches, giants, and talking animals) and enchantments, often involving a far-fetched sequence of events. The term is also used to describe something blessed with unusual happiness, as in "fairy tale ending" (a happy ending) or "fairy tale romance," though not all fairy tales end happily. Fairy tales are a genre in literature. They have their roots in the oral tradition. Fairy tales with very similar plots, characters, and motifs are found spread across many different cultures. Fairy tales also tend to take on the color of their location, through the choice of motifs, the style in which they are told, and the depiction of character and local color.
