The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid is a fairy tale by the Danish author Hans Christian Andersen about a young mermaid who wanted to give up her life in the sea and her identity as a mermaid to gain a human soul and the love of a human prince. The Little Mermaid lived in an underwater kingdom with her father the sea king, her grandmother and her six sisters. When she turned 15, she was allowed to swim to the surface to watch the world above. When she went to the surface, she saw a ship with a handsome prince and fell in love with him from a distance. A great storm came and the Little Mermaid saved the prince from drowning. She brought him unconscious near a temple and waited until a young girl from the temple found him. The prince never saw the Little Mermaid.

The latest Royals:

from the House of Hanover to the House of Windsor

Queen Victoria (r.1837-1901) belonged to the House of Hanover (see George I).  She died in 1901 and an age died with her. She had reigned for sixty-four years and the Victorian Age was an age of social, economic and political reforms but also an age of strict moralism. Her son Edward VII reigned from 1901 to 1910 and introduced new reforms. He died in 1910 succeeded by his son George V (1910-1936). The age that followed was a moderate age which saw the terrible outbreak of the first world war (1914-1918) which lasted four years.

My house

My house is quite big. When you go in, you find a hall. On the left of the entrance door, there is a living room with a white sofa, a big table and four chairs. There is a big rug on the floor. The room has a big window which opens up to a balcony with chairs and a table good for afternoon breaks. On the right there is a bathroom with a bath, a shower, a toilet and a basin. Opposite, there is a kitchen and on the right there is a small bedroom and a bathroom.

Cell division: mitosis

All cells have a cycle that starts when they have been produced and ends when they divide to produce identical cells. Cell division is a small segment of the cell cycle. It is the process by which a parent cell divides into two or more daughter cells that can divide again. This division is known as mitosis. Before division can occur, the genetic information stored in chromosomes replicates and separates and the replicated genetic material in the parent cell  is equally distributed to two daughter cells.
